Our Services

Our Services

Echo Vet Cardio provides diagnosis and treatment of congenital and acquired heart disease, and performs minimally-invasive (catheter-based) cardiovascular procedures. Comprehensive, compassionate care for patients and clients is the primary goal of the service. We work in concert with primary care veterinarians to meet your pet’s medical needs.

Who We Are

Veterinary cardiologists at Echo Vet Cardio are recognized leaders in the field of veterinary cardiology. Echo Vet Cardio specializes prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of heart disease in veterinary patients. The mission is to provide the highest quality, most advanced cardiac care to companion animals with heart disease. Members in our team are always available to help you and your pet, day and night.

What We Do

Echo Vet Cardio evaluates companion animals (dogs and cats) for a spectrum of cardiac disorders. The most common heart diseases diagnosed include patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), pulmonic stenosis (PS), myxomatous mitral valve degeneration (MMVD), dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC), and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). We manage congestive heart failure (CHF) and cardiac arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation (AF) and ventricular tachycardia (VT) that are commonly associated with these heart diseases. In addition, an OFA screening test for cardiac congenital defects is offered through auscultation, echocardiography, and Holter recordings. We work closely with primary care veterinarians to update our findings and recommendations for achieving the best patient care.

Interventional Cardiology Procedures

Interventional Cardiology procedures are minimally invasive, and provide minimal anesthesia time, short hospital stay, and better clinical outcome for veterinary patients in which conventional surgical approach could involve high risk complications. It utilizes advanced imaging modality (fluoroscopic guidance, transesophageal echocardiography) and catheters for making vascular access to targeted structures and correcting cardiovascular disorders. Cardiovascular interventional procedures offered at Echo Vet Cardio are the following.
Conversion of atrial fibrillation to normal sinus rhythm via delivery of electrical energy to the atria
Elimination of blood clot in the distal aorta via catheterization and targeted administration of thrombolytic agent
Occlusion of shunt vessel via caval stenting and coil placement
Occlusion of anomalous vasculature via coil placement
Normalization of intravascular pressure and symptomatic alleviation of heart failure by placing a vascular stent at obstructive vena cava or pulmonary artery
Occlusion of PDA via transarterial placement of Amplatz Canine Ductal Occluder
Occlusion of PDA via transvenous placement of coil
Heartworm removal for treatment of caval syndrome
Surgical method of correcting slow heart rate for symptomatic bradyarrhythmia such as sick sinus syndrome, AV block, persistent atrial standstill
Balloon dilation for decreasing severity of valvular stenosis and improving prognosis
Balloon dilation with a cutting balloon for decreasing severity of sub-valvular aortic stenosis
